Merry Christmas in July!
Hey everyone! Mama here! I hope everyone has been staying Uneek! This week I’m going to tell you a little about recycling and how you can use it to your advantage in your everyday ensembles! This way, we can have less waste in our landfills and more things to accessorize with!
So First off let me tell you a little bit of things you can do at home to stay green.
Tip # 1 Unplug
Turn off electrical devices won’t just help save the planet, it can also help you save a few bucks off your electric bill each month. Turn out the lights at home when your not using them! Don’t forget to unplug devices that aren’t in use, even though they may be powered off they are still taking up energy by being plugged in!
Tip # 2 Use less water
Turn the water heater down to 120°. Wash full loads of laundry in cool water. If you’ve just got to use hot, rinse in cold. In the bathroom, skip the water-wasting steam bath and opt for the quick shower. If you have to let the water heat up first then catch the cold water and water the plants later with it! It will do everyone good!
Tip # 3 Buy Organic Local Foods
Food could travel thousands of miles to get to your grocery store everyday! That’s wasted resources. Why not buy locally and save the haul! Also, organically grown food is much healthier and gives your body healthier nutrients to absorb in turn making you feel much more energetic and it can even help your skin!
Tip # 4 Drive Less
Instead of driving your car to the mall why not car pool with someone who is already going. There will be less pollution emitted (one car makes a difference, think about all the other people that are going to the mall if they went with a friend then it would chop the parking lot in half! More space for parking cars and less pollution… Wow! What a deal!) and you’ll have a shopping buddy!
Tip # 5 Recycle your old clothing
If you’ve got a pile of old clothes you don’t wear anymore why not recycle them into something fun and new? you can create an awesome jean skirt from your old baggy jeans or why not create an awesome hat with that t-shirt with the coffee stain, buy a patch and voila you have the hippest outfit on the block! If your not the DIY type they why not donate your items to your local Goodwill? You will take part in stopping landfill buildup and help someone else out that may turn your trash into treasure!
What ever you may do try to do it green. We only have one earth and when she’s gone, where will we go?
Here is a little something you can do at home with a few left over things ready for the trash.
Got Converse ready for the trash? Don’t throw them out you can revamp them! Take a look at these awesome revamps.
Changed the locks? Don’t throw away the old keys, why not decorate it and make a cute necklace out of it?
Look around your house for old things that you can reinvent! You’ll save the earth and look good too!
Happy Findings!
